Coach Travis Mahoney
Head Coach, Founder

TR Performance was built on one premise: athletes deserve more than a generic plan. They deserve the knowledge I learned as a pro athlete, high school and elite pro coach, paired with sports science. That understanding is what lets athletes execute and improve in the sport.

I am a 4× US Olympic Trials qualifier, a 12 year professional runner, and I hold a degree in exercise physiology. I have trained under some of the best coaches in the United States and now apply that same standard to youth, high school, and masters national champions. The track. The road. Let's get after it.

The approach

How I think about coaching.

Science based

My degree in exercise physiology changed how I see the sport. I read the literature, understand the science, and then apply it with patience. New methods are only adopted when they are right for the athlete, not because they are trendy.

Motivation and the mind

The best coaches I have been around inspire athletes to commit fully to the work. I emphasize support, care, and motivation because training is only half the equation. The right environment is what lets an athlete become the best version of themselves.

Long term development

I have seen too many talented athletes lose time to injury or burnout. My coaching emphasizes patience, a solid foundation, and the discipline to avoid excessive ambition. The goal is to build a career, not chase one race.

Individualized

After two decades in the sport, I know what works for one athlete may not work for another. Every block is built around your physiology, schedule, goals, and feedback. Adaptability is how potential becomes performance.
